South-2013PinotBlancVineland Estates 2013 SOUTH Pinot Blanc

~August 2014
As the southern block of the Pinot Blanc vines tilts in a northerly direction, there is a subtle shading of the vines that preserves the racy acidity within the grape and produces a bright wine with a crisp finish. The lemon-lime zest is clean and forward and there isn’t even a hint of the tropical that nuances the north block Pinot Blanc.

North-2013PinotBlancVineland Estates 2013 NORTH Pinot Blanc

~July 2014
The northern block of the Pinot Blanc planting has a gentle southern aspect that delivers a little more sun and warmth than the southern block receives. As such this unique bottling has a bit more of a riper quality than its southern counterpart. The nose has just a touch of the tropical and the mouth-feel is full. Still, a beautiful seam of acidity keeps this wine focussed and fresh.

2013SauvignonBlancVineland Estates 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

~April 2014
The nerve! How can it be so good so soon? In truth, this strikingly bright 2013 Sauvignon Blanc has been confidently bounding towards the bottle since the first berry was picked. Brian saw this fast rising star far off and redirected its energy to support the rapid and sure-footed maturation. “This just oozes passion fruit,” reflects Brian, “plus I get a marked white pepper sensation.” Juicy with a crisp acidity, this full on wine begs for a disc of fine chèvre, calamari fritti, ceviche or even smoked fish.

Morning Shadow
This wine reflects its creator. It is pure coiled energy, vibrant, bright and extremely approachable. In addition, both greet the world with an outward shadow – Brian, with his perpetual “5 o’clock” and the Pinot Gris with its morning shade. There is also a unique edginess and sharp angularity to this wine that speaks metaphorically to the high banked and sometimes dicey headlands of the vineyard. Crisp Bosc pear with hints of Mutsu apple notes are all supported on a bight bed of lemon-lime citrus. The racy acidity keeps the wine refreshing and laser focused.

Ricks Grape X
Leading wine writer, Rick Van Sickle, chronicled this specific wine through the careful, ongoing study of “Grape X” (on a vine in Field D of the St. Urban Vineyard) from pruning all the way to harvest. It was a perfect, sun-drenched day when the Grape X bunch, along with its surrounding brethren, was brought to the crush pad on September 20, 2012. About 10% botrytis affect was noted at the time that added just a subtle hint of late harvest flavour within the classical Vineland Estates Riesling canvas of lemon-lime zest and wet stone minerality.

This venerable favourite strikes gold once again with the 2009 vintage. Our Semi-Dry Riesling has been a staple of the winery since our earliest vintage as a new chapter of our legacy. Given the concentrated citrus, green apple and mineral nose plus the elegant supporting structure on the palate. this vintage is a worthy steward of such a weighty heritage. When asked what snack would go best with a casual glass of Semi-Dry Riesling, our winemaker Brian said, “the Semi-Dry is the snack.”

2011March-Rosehall-2008RieslingBTLRosehall Run 2008 Riesling

~ March 2011
Ontario’s 2008 vintage proved to be excellent, especially for white varietals. The 2008 Rosehall Run Riesling is a case in point. From the outset, the aromatic purity of the fruit was incredible. This expressive wine was blend from fruit sourced from Vineland Estates Winery with a little Rosehall Run Estate Riesling for added Prince Edward County mineral notes. Cold fermentation in our newly constructed winery ensured that the fruit and floral notes were preserved from the vineyard and captured in the bottle.

~ February 2011
It has been a full decade between our first vintage sparkling Riesling release and our second, the 2008 Riesling Cuve Close. This focused, pure, elegant bubbly is so delicious and engaging that you will ask the question, “why have you made us wait so long?” Within the crisp nature of the palate of this wine there is a wonderful textural foil of pure cream. This sparkling is both lively and silky in the same moment.

2008ElevationRieslingVineland Estates 2008 Elevation Riesling

~ December 2010
The balance of this wine is remarkable. The acidity, sweetness, alcohol and extract are all in perfect concert delivering a taste sensation that fills you from head to toe. The slight spritz that is found upon opening (original carbon dioxide from fermentation) magnifies the zesty lemon lime characters and is also a testament to the gentle care this wine has received since its birth. Its youthful punch and perkiness will please us now but its deep inner greatness will only be revealed with years of mindful cellaring.

~ November 2010
This delicious Pinot Gris is a Gold Medal Winner from the 2010 All-Canadian Wine Championships. The wine is light straw in colour with a slight copper rim and brilliant clarity. Bright aromatics on the nose of fresh pear, tangerine and wildflower honey combine well with notes of key lime, anise and mild floral notes. This food friendly wine is fresh and lively on the palate with a touch of residual sugar that balances the racy acidity.

2008SauvignonBlancVineland Estates 2008 Sauvignon Blanc

~ October 2010
This beautifully structured wine that somehow bridges the gap between Sancerre and New Zealand is certainly displaying an inner greatness. The tension of marrying these two regional views is this wine’s true strength. A wonderful rumbling complexity reminiscent of a wine from the Loire Valley is expertly overlaid with the zip and angularity of a Marlborough fruit bomb.

2008KonzelmannGEWLateHarvestKonzelmann Estate 2008 Gewurztraminer Late Harvest

~ October 2010
An initial waft bombards the senses with aromas of fruit, spice and florality too intricately woven to resolve upon casual inspection. Persistence begins to reveal its component parts – papaya fruit, lychee nut, rose petals, lavender and honey parade broadly around a core of elusive but tenacious spice. The oily texture is somewhat alsatian, with sweet pineapple up front that transforms to reaffirm flavours discovered in the nose. A cleansing acidity comes out at the mid and end which holds a floral and cinnamon note for a finish that lasts.
