Mixed fruit,- orange zest, pineapple and mango on the nose with spice-filled aromatics of ginger, nutmeg and clove. Good roundness and weight on the mid-palate, and a long pleasant finish.

This new washed rind cheese from Gunn’s Hill sports Palatine Winery’s Chardonnay! The golden brown rind moves to a semi firm paste punctuated by eyes. A sweet and creamy aroma wafts from the paste while the rind offers nutty, hay like qualities. On the palate, creamy lactic notes mingle with a great balance of salt and slight sharpness. The finish is medium long and the washed rind provides additional layers of flavour complexity (I actually pick out Brazil nut)! Fielding’s 2011 Gewürztraminer offers a complex melange of fruit and spice. Subtle layers of orange blossom and mango blend with ginger and nutmeg to provide an engaging sensory experience. On the palate these flavours are balanced by snappy acidity and a slight off dryness that provides a pleasing rounded mid palate and lingering finish. These two may at first seem like “The Odd Couple,” but like the TV show they will be celebrated for years to come.
